You Call It Shadow, We Call It Āyah

The most overlooked lesson
often walks beside us.

Quiet.
Faithful.
Unnoticed.

“Have you not considered your Lord, how He extends the shadow?
If He willed, He could have made it still.”

Qur’an – Surah Al-Furqan (25) verse 45

We watch our shadow move,
yet rarely stop to ask
what it is trying to say.

Shadow is not darkness.
It is not absence.

It is a sign.
An āyah.
A visible trace of light in motion.

It exists only because light exists.
And it moves only by the will of Allah .

Even when we stand still,
the shadow advances.

Stretching.
Shortening.
Shifting with the hours.

Teaching us — silently —
that nothing remains fixed,
that time unfolds without asking permission,
that creation itself is in continuous movement.

This is not randomness.
It is measure.

Shadow reveals what we often forget,

That every moment passes through shade
before returning to light.

That change is not chaos.
It is direction.

That what we call time
is, in truth, remembrance written in light.

A Lesson for Those Who See

Shadow never announces itself.
It does not demand attention.
It does not resist its movement.

It follows the light, quietly and faithfully.

In this movement, something becomes visible,
not as interpretation,
but as observation.

A measured unfolding.
A precise progression.
A reminder that nothing in creation is without meaning.

This is hikmah made visible.

In the Islamic lens, nothing is meaningless.

Not light.
Not shadow.
Not transition.

Every extension of shade
is a reminder that Allah governs movement,
that He unfolds time gently,
that He teaches without spectacle.

You call it time.
You call it change.

But when the heart is attentive,
it becomes something else.

A reminder
that everything returns to its Source.

And this is for those who are aware:

“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth,
and in the alternation of the night and the day,
are signs for people of understanding
those who remember Allah
while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides,
and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth…”

Qur’an – Surah Al-Imran (3) verses 190–191

Not everyone looks.
Not everyone sees.

But for those who remember Allah ,
even the shadow becomes a verse.
