Before wellness became an industry.
Before alignment became a buzzword.
Before “seasonal eating” was repackaged and sold back to us.
There was already a way of life in place.
A way rooted in the earth,
guided by seasons,
and aligned with what the body truly needs.
Alignment begins with the soil.
With what grows slowly.
With what appears at the right time.
With what changes color, texture, and taste not to impress us, but to serve us.
The radish – الفجل – is one of those quiet signs.
Yes, it is a vegetable. More precisely, a root vegetable.
And that distinction matters.
Roots are not decorative.
Roots are functional.
They anchor, cleanse, regulate, and restore balance.
Growing underground, the radish absorbs minerals directly from the soil, concentrating strength before ever being seen. And when it emerges, it does not seduce.
It corrects.
Why the radish matters
- Supports digestion and helps break heaviness
- Stimulates the liver and bile, supporting natural detoxification
- Rich in fiber, potassium, and sulfur compounds
- Helps the body transition between seasons
- Awakens clarity rather than comfort
Across Muslim cultures, radish has long been eaten fresh, pickled, or fermented.
Not as a “superfood.”
Simply as seasonal intelligence.
Look at its colors: black, white, pink, violet.
Different soils.
Different climates.
Different needs.
Subhan ALLAH, this is not randomness.
This is design.
Islam has always taught us to observe, contemplate, and reflect on what is placed before us. Food was never separated from meaning. Nature was never disconnected from spirituality. The body was never treated as an afterthought.
Long before the world spoke about wellness and alignment, this knowledge already existed, quietly, humbly, precisely.
Every fruit.
Every vegetable.
Every season.
Arriving when we need it most.
And when the noise of ultra-processed food, artificial cravings, and industrial temptation becomes loud, the reminder is simple:
What grows from the soil was created for our health, our balance, and our alignment.
This is not nostalgia.
This is not ideology.
This is truth.
And for Muslims, it is also a source of dignity and pride because our faith never disconnected the soul from the earth.
Contemplate.
Observe.
Reflect.
You belong to the most visionary blueprint ever built—one that understood alignment long before the world tried to rename it.
And then, the question remains – timeless, unaltered, addressed to every generation:
“So which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?”
Qur’an Surah Ar-Rahman (55) verse 13
